Great News… Free First Friday Film Screenings for Sunrise Park Neighbors!
Our good neighbor, the Palm Springs Cultural Center is offering SPNO members free entry to any of their regular theatrical screenings on the first Friday of each month. “Firebirds” and “The Duke” are the first two free First Friday Film screenings being offered to us on Friday, May 6th.
Just go to the theater’s concessions area at 2300 East Baristo Road, say you’re a Sunrise Park neighbor and sign in. You’ll receive free entry to the film of your choice, excluding special events/festival screenings. Go to PSCulturalCenter.org the first week of each month for film titles and show times. Join your neighbors for these special, free events and express our thanks to the Palm Springs Cultural Center!

In an effort to reduce the number of traffic collisions and fatalities in the city, thirty-six segments of local streets are set to have reduced speed limits. Most of the street segments will have speed limits lowered by 5 mph, while a few street segments will be reduced by 10 or 15 mph.
The roads in and around Sunrise Park with speed limits reductions are:
These changes were made possible with the passage of a bill last year that gives California cities more flexibility to target speeding in unsafe areas.
Our own Sunrise Park Neighborhood Organization Board Member Kathy Cohn has received a Senior Inspiration Award at the 30th annual awards luncheon, which was held on Thursday, March 31 in Indio, Calif. This annual event honors the unsung heroes amongst us for their ongoing contributions and dedication to our communities. Our thanks to Kathy for all her hard work for our neighborhood and beyond through the years.
Here’s the post as it appears on the City of Palm Springs’ official FaceBook page:
“Congratulation to Kathy Cohn, who was selected by Mayor Lisa Middleton as the City of Palm Springs’ honoree for the 30th Annual Senior Inspiration Awards luncheon held today at the Fantasy Springs Resort Special Events Center. Each year, a resident of each of the nine valley cities - and two residents living in unincorporated areas of Riverside County - are honored for their longtime community volunteer service. Kathy has served as Chair of the Organized Neighborhoods of Palm Springs (ONE-PS), Chair of Sunrise Park Neighborhood Organization and currently serves on the board of ONE-PS, among other volunteer activities.
